My Dream Aberdeen Elopement
I am getting married in October! I am so excited. And somehow along the way my initial plans evolved and I have booked some things that I didn’t anticipate. Sound familiar? My wedding dress is not what I imagined, we have a small guest list and I have a hen-do booked (previously a no from me!). So, when I started doing wedding photography I decided I would like to style a shoot around my ideal wedding day - a small city elopement.

I created a mood board around the modern micro wedding vision. The bride had natural and dewy bridal make up with loose long hair. She wears a bridal mini-dress and veil. The groom wears a suit. And the photography tells a story of a cinematic elopement full of colour, movement and fun, captured through my lens as an intimate wedding photographer.

I invited my friend and Aberdeen wedding film photographer Scott Arlow along to capture the day on 35mm film. Joe from @joecamcorder (instagram) captured the day on his vintage camera and Aberdeen wedding content creator Morven from Wild and Coral came to capture our content!

The Bride/Groom couple are friends from baby group - the things you persuade your chums to do! A real life engaged couple, their connection was evident throughout the day and added the ‘je ne sais quoi’ to the photography. The way they looked at each other was so stunning!
New Aberdeen wedding venue The Gaelic Lane hosted and we had an incredible line up of local Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire wedding suppliers. Bridal make up artist (Aberdeen) Natalie Fearnley did make up and absolutely smashed the brief whilst accentuating Ericka’s natural beauty perfectly.

When I imagine what to wear for a city elopement I go straight to simple and modern. Ericka’s dress was from Nobody’s Child and Calum’s suit was from Next. Matching wedding rings and the bridal jewellery set was supplied by the best jeweller in Aberdeen Megan Falconer.

Ericka’s colourful bridal florals and Calum’s buttonhole were created by florist and wedding stationer Emma at Paper and Petals. Emma also supplied us with beautiful dainty bud vases with seasonal wedding flowers and gorgeous elopement stationary for us to attach instax pictures to from the day. The stationary would then be sent on to the couples families as a wedding announcement. So fun! We also had colourful cards to write vows on.

The room itself for the wedding reception was dressed by Thoughts and Crosses, who provide incredible event decoration services, Aberdeen. The showcased their new stylish and trendy serpentine tables, dressed with linens, candles and bud vases. Chiavari chairs with terracotta drops lined the tables, tying the peachy colour theme together beautifully. They also provided ceremony arch decor at the end of the table.

When we returned from Marischal College the new Mr & Mrs were able to finally tuck in to the beautiful wedding reception catering which was made by Kate’s Bespoke Catering. They created a stunning wedding charcuterie board and wedding canape platters. The brief was to have a sweet grazing table and it was perfect and soooo tasty!! At the centre of the table there was the delicious wedding cake created by Gumblossom. I can personally recommend the cake - it was the most aesthetic and delicious wedding cake I’ve tried!

The whole day was so much fun, Ericka and Calum were fantastic and my fellow suppliers were the best company!! A lovely experience and way to network with Aberdeen weddings suppliers.
